FROM FOOD WASTE TO PLANT FOOD

Every day, Sunway Pyramid’s food & beverage (F&B) tenants
generate a total of 2.4 tonnes of food waste. Rather than dumping
food scraps, Sunway Pyramid teamed up with Sunway Real Estate
Investment Trust (REIT) and Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, to turn
food waste into useful fertiliser.
In September, the mall launched the ‘Food CPR - Compost.
Plant.Reduce’ campaign, which involved collecting food waste
from participating tenants to be processed into compost using a
compost machine.
The compost machine can process up to 500 litres of food
waste per day, saving 180,000 litres of food waste from landfills
